in spring 2020, the covid-19 pandemic sent the u.k. into a sudden and total lockdown. especially in those first three months, katie turned to art in an attempt to express, and sometimes get rid of, the resulting emotional, mental, and spiritual turmoil.
eben•ezer is a compilation of poetry and illustration pairs, each reflecting on an aspect of life in that 2020 lockdown. though from an incredibly specific time in history, katie believes the questions, feelings, and truths explored here transcend covid quarantine.
the word ebenezer comes from the biblical book of first samuel, in which the prophet samuel praises God for a victory in battle by erecting a stone, like a monument. he calls the stone, ebenezer, meaning rock of my help. as it says in the hymn “come thou fount,” katie presents this book, her ebenezer, as a testament that hither by God’s help she is come.

an art book can mean many things, depending on the artist, content, and goal of the project. eben•ezer is a series of 95 poem/illustration pairs, designed for meditation and empathy.
katie invites you to think of eben•ezer like a show in an art gallery. find your favorite way to engage. read the book cover to cover in one sitting. view one page a day. pick a favorite and sit with it for a month. come back to the book over and over, at your leisure, to find something new each time.
eben.ezer is printed as a limited run of 100 copies now available for purchase via stripe. contact katie if you have any questions.
each book is $50 (with an additional $5 to help cover the shipping of your book, if it will be coming to you by post). this helps cover the cost of producing the book, including printing fees and katie’s creative time.
along the lines of accessibility, if you or a loved one want a book but find the cost prohibitive, please do reach out. the ultimate goal is to get good art into the hands of those who need it.
